How to make a great photography quote

Modified on Tue, 16 May 2023 at 10:35 PM

We've analysed our photography quotes and know what customers like to see in a quote. Here are our tips to help win you your next booking.

  1. Be friendly
From your first message to your last, be friendly, open and approachable. Having a connection with their photographer is as important to some people as an impressive portfolio.

  2. Respond quickly
When your business looks like a good match for an event, we'll send you an email, so keep an eye on your inbox! Being quick to respond to these emails and sending customers a quote will increase your chances of getting noticed.

  3. Keep it concise
Keep your quote short and easy to read. Bullet points are much more effective than long paragraphs.

  4. Outline what your package includes
Include any additional costs for premium packages like; a second photographer, printed albums, multiple locations, half or full-day shoots.

  5. Pay attention to the details
Show a genuine interest in the customer's event. Talk specifically about their event to show that you’ve tailored your quote and message to them.

  6. Go the extra mile
If you offer a bespoke service and packages, make sure you sell this to the customer.

  7. Finish with a question
Encourage the customer to reply and keep the conversation going by asking them a question like; What sort of photography style are you interested in? How many hours do you need a photographer for? Do you have any special requests?

Have a go at using these simple tips in your quotes today. To save time, create a quote template so that you have a standardised quote ready to go at the click of a button. Then, all that's left to do is add details specific to the event you're quoting for.

Pro tip: Our most successful photographers always keep their calendar updated. If your calendar is up to date, you'll only receive event matches for the days when you're free.
